Gatitude

Its 1:00 in the afternoon here and I just got home from the golf course. My wife is fixing lunch for our daughter before we head out for the afternoon to get her a new bike and run a few more errands. How many people out there can say that about a friday? If you look at Facebook all your news feeds are TGIF or I can't wait to get out of here. A lot of them are already moaning that Monday will be here in a few days!

My point is this, be grateful for what you have and your life will have a lot better flow to it. All of that TGIF and moaning about the weekend being too short is, in essence, making it shorter. If you don't like going to work on Mondays then start making the decisions that will allow you to play golf during the week while everyone else is at work, like I get to do. Or, do whatever it is that you look forward to. What most people don't understand is that they are not victims of the circumstances, but victims of their own decisions. You see, every decision you have ever made has led you to where you are right now.

If you want to change your job or your life then you must first change the way you think. Be grateful for what you already have, and start making the decisions that will get you towards your goal. If you want to lose weight, begin to think of yourself as a thin person, and the chocolate cake will be easier to resist. Want a promotion at work, begin to see yourself in that position, and you will become that person. Want to strike out on your own and be self-employed? Then make the decision that is who you want to be and take all out massive action. We only get one go around at life, live it the way you want to and you will never have any regrets. People have always given me a hard time because I always went against the grain, but I played golf three days this week while they were at work.

Creating Value

"Instead of struggling to get one up on everyone, raise your awareness to the point that the competition is insignificant. Get in the habit of creating value and you won't feel the need to take it from others." -anonymous

I ran across this quote last year sometime and it stuck with me. I wrote it down on one of my many yellow legal pads scattered throughout my life and I spent some time digging it out. The reason for this post is mindset. Mindset is everything, 99% of your success in what ever your field you are in is due to your mindset. A positive attitude adds value to any situation it is thrown into, and a negative one destroys value. We've all known the guy at the office that is doom and gloom. Nobody wants to be around that guy for very long unless they are just as miserable as he is, and everyone knows that misery loves company.

My point is this, the wealth conscious mind rises above the competition. We know that their is enough for everyone. It is in my best interest that you become as successful as you want to be. You cannot help the poor by being poor. You cannot help the hungry by going hungry. To be successful and to live abundantly is why we are here, we aren't to hold back our wants and desires. We are to embrace them, achieve our goals, live our dreams, be exactly who you want to be. Lead by example. How could I possibly tell my children that they can be anything they want to be and then settle for some job that I hate. Live your dreams, and then they will know it to be possible. You won't have to tell them.

Create value by being a leader. Be the person who exemplifies the ideal. Strive for greatness and be willing to help those who want to achieve it as well. Keep your focus on your goals and move straight toward them. Obstacles will become nonexistent because you will enjoy the challenge of finding something new to overcome it. With each passing day come more knowledge, new ideas, and new ways of thinking. Enjoy every moment of everyday, get lost in the wonder of the world around you. Live life without excuses, face your responsibility, and love with all your heart. Appreciate and express gratitude for everyone and everything around you, love what you do and do what you love and then you will be creating value.

Where are you going?

Daily meditation and visualization is a key component to anyone who has achieved greatness in any area of their life. Early on I struggled with this since I had never formally done anything like this. I wasn't even sure how to meditate, but the more I worked on it the more I started to see how this related to success. I was driving down the interstate the other day, daydreaming, on my way back from Nashville, Tn. when it hit me.

When you are driving down the highway you don't focus on the road directly in front of you, or the things on the side of the road. You might glance over at something time to time, but everyone knows that if you take your eye off the road you begin to swerve and get off track. It is not enough to watch the road in front of you either, you must look way down the road if you want to go fast. If you are driving 5 mph I guess you can look around some, but who wants to go that slow? I like to go fast, so I have to be focused way down the road so I can make the control movement necessary to keep the car going where I intend.

Same way in life or your business. When you begin to look around you, you might not like where you are at right now, but that doesn't matter. You will gone from that place in an instant! Now you are somewhere else! The farther you can look ahead the faster you can go. Focus your energy on where you want to be in life, pay attention to your intention. That is the way to achieving massive results in any are of your life. Take the action necessary today that will drive your car to your intended destination.

Successful people that are focused on where they are going run into roadblocks just like everyone else, but they already know that they will each their goal so they take the action necessary at that time to keep them on track. You are going to have to swerve to miss a pothole along the way. Even if you hit it and blow a tire, do you sit on the side of the road and hope that it will just magically fix itself? No, you get out the jack, drag out the spare and get to work. Some people may call AAA, but that is'nt the point. The point is take action! Make the moves that will get you back on the road a soon as possible, and focusing on your goal is one sure fire way of making that happen.

When you get quiet, get clear on what it is that you want, and work yourself into a white hot desire for the attainment of that goal something magical does happen. You see yourself already in possesion of the thing! When you can do that, it is just a matter of time until it presents itself. It will come so fast that you will wonder where it was all along.

It is not enough to want the money, you have to know what is for. Focus like a laser beam on what it is that you want and you will take the action necessary automatically, without having to make yourself. Living your life on purpose. The hardest part is making the decision. After that it's all downhill.

Fifty Habits of Highly Successful People

success, habits, goal setting, successful peopleSuccess is really a profound individual perception. Not only is there the commercialized notion of success, bred by whatever culture you live in, but individually, success is different for everyone, and changes as you grow older.

It has been my observation that nearly all of us set our expectations too low. I have studied personal development literature for over 30 years now, and one of the more common themes is the agonizing thought of winding up on your deathbed not having at least tried for your dreams and goals.

The first step, of course, is to set your goals. I ran an article by Brain Tracy several years ago on goal-setting that is loaded with helpful tips on how to write your goals down to increase your chances of success.

But there are also certain habits and characteristics that more successful people display than others.

This is a great list created by LifeHack, of qualities that successful people have, which have been noted in many books on the subject:

1. They look for and find opportunities where others see nothing.

2. They find lessons while others only see problems.

3. They are solution focused.

4. They consciously and methodically create their own success.

5. They may be fearful, but they are not controlled or limited by fear.

6. They ask the right questions -- the ones which put them in a positive mindset and emotional state.

7. They rarely complain.

8. They don’t blame, and take complete responsibility for their actions and outcomes.

9. They always find a way to maximize their potential, and use what they have effectively.

10. They are busy, productive and proactive.

11. They align themselves with like-minded people.

12. They are ambitious.

13. They have clarity and certainty about what they want.

14. They innovate instead of imitate.

15. They don’t procrastinate.

16. They are life-long learners.

17. They are glass half full people, while still being practical and down-to-earth.

18. They consistently do what they need to do, regardless of how they are feeling on a given day.

19. They take calculated risks.

20. They deal with problems quickly and effectively.

21. They don’t believe in, or wait for, fate, destiny, chance or luck.

22. They take action before they have to.

23. They are more effective than most at managing their emotions.

24. They are good communicators.

25. They have a plan for their life and they work methodically to turn that plan into a reality.

26. They become exceptional by choice.

27. They work through the tough stuff that most would avoid.

28. They have identified what is important to them and they do their best to live a life which is reflective of those values.

29. They have balance. They know that money is a tool and ultimately, it’s just another resource.

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self-control.

31. They are secure in their sense of self-worth.

32. They are generous and kind.

33. They are happy to admit mistakes and apologize.

34. They are adaptable and embrace change.

35. They keep themselves in shape physically.

36. They work hard and are not lazy.

37. They are resilient.

38. They are open to, and more likely to act upon, feedback.

39. They don’t hang out with toxic people.

40. They don’t invest time or emotional energy into uncontrollable things.

41. They are happy to swim against the tide.

42. They comfortable with their own company.

43. They set high standards for themselves.

44. They don’t rationalize failure.

45. They know how to relax, enjoy what they have in their life and to have fun.

46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job.

47. They are more interested in what is effective than in what is easy.

48. They finish what they start.

49. They realize that not only are they physical and psychological beings, but emotional and spiritual creatures as well.

50. They practice what they preach.

The Definition of Happiness

Happiness has been defined as, “The progressive achievement of a worthy ideal, or goal.” When you are working progressively, step-by-step toward something that is important to you, you generate within yourself a continuous feeling of success and achievement.

You feel more positive and motivated. You feel more in control of your own life. You feel happier and more fulfilled. You feel like a winner, and you soon develop the psychological momentum that enables you to overcome obstacles and plow through adversity as you move toward achieving the goals that are most important to you.
